PRESS RELEASE: 10/21/2006
Press Release: World City Music is an independent record company
based in Minneapolis, Paris and Berlin.
On October 21,2006 WCM will release two new albums. “Galactic Dance
Party” The Best Of World City Music: Volume One and “Starlight Dance
Party” The Best Of World City Music: Volume Two.
“Galactic Dance Party” and ‘Starlight Dance Party” represent The
Best Of World City Music over the last two decades. These singles
have rocked radio stations and clubs in Amsterdam, Berlin, Paris,
Madrid and Rome.
Never before released in the U.S., and produced in many of the
legendary studios of Europe, these tracks offer a unique glimpse
into a period when American and European music styles meshed to
create a sound once known as Euro-Soul.
"Starlight Dance Party" and "Galactic Dance Party" is comprised of
infectious arrangements of pop and soul classics, complimented by
inspired, up-tempo r&b/soul originals. A back to the future music
collection, as diverse and surprising, as the artist community and
record company it represents.
These songs were produced in a period when people were optimistic
about the future and determined to make the world a better place for
our children. When lyrics were positive, grooves were strong and
every record had it’s own distinct flavor and style.
The artists on these two compilations are from Holland (Pascúale
Sommers), Denmark (The Angie Mamas), France (Le Bom), Germany (Berlina),
Italy (The WCM Orchestra) and the U.S. (Dwight Thompson, Done Deal,
Gwen Matthews, Michael Robinson , and the D. D. Crew).
The mission of World City Music is to encourage and celebrate the
development and artistic freedom of our artists, while creating
popular music for a global audience.
